HOME MISSIONS  CAPITAL CITY MISSION (CCM)

Overview

Capital City Mission is a centre where Christ's love can be expressed to people on their own terms. Great dedication, compassion, and genuineness are required of the staff and volunteers at the Mission. Those who visit CCM have often been the victims of abuse, violence, and poverty. The situations they face in life are somewhat precarious, and they need the stability and security provided by the Mission in order to re-establish what has become all too foreign to them… trust.

Facts:

• 6,000 poverty stricken people live in the area served by CCM

• Twice as many developmentally disabled people live on the street as live in institutions

• CCM is equipped to meet the needs of 100 - 125 people per day, but sometimes as many as 150 people a day come to the Mission

• After 10 years of daily service to the lowertown community, visitors become family with all the family challenges in life: deaths, marriages, sickness and steps forward & back

• 80% of the visitors to CCM live within a quarter of a mile from the Mission.

Plans for the Future

A Thursday night coffeehouse called “THE GATHERING” is held to share a time of worship and biblical preaching to our community. A Wednesday Evening 6:30 pm church service (called "The Source") was launched in May 2007. A Drug and Alcohol conselling service is available on site. We are open an extra 20 hours a week for drop-in during the cold weather season from November to March.
